PLAKTON is a global brand founded in 1995 in the city of Elche, located in the southeast of Spain, specialized in the production and sale of comfort cork sandals. PURPOSE
PLAKTON is committed to respecting nature and integrating sustainability and environmental care into its brand philosophy. Since its founding in 1995, cork has been an essential material in almost all of our products. We strive to create products that not only prioritize comfort and ergonomics, but also incorporate natural elements. At the core of our philosophy is the careful felling of cork oaks, a method that has been entrusted since ancient times only to skilled professionals called “décortisadores”. Their manual precision and extensive experience ensure that the health of the trees remains intact, in line with our values of environmental responsibility and conservation.

UPPER
PLAKTONのアッパー（甲）に採用されている同スペイン製のVEILU社の合成皮革は、“REACH”と呼ばれる EU加盟国で定められた厳しい環境保護規約をクリアした物です。靴底に使われているコルクと同様、自国産業や 自然との共存を意識し、持続が可能な物作りをしていくというPLAKTONの企業精神を表しています。また、主にアッパーに使用される本革はスペイン現地で生産をされるVACHETTAという牛革で、クラスト着色をしていない状態の革を、必要な時に必要な量の色を１足づつ手で染め上げて作られます。手間は掛かりますが 、ロスがありません。履物にコルクが使用された歴史は古代からありますが 、極寒のヨーロッパで室内の石床から足を守る為 、主に室内履きとして貴族に使われた頃から庶民にも広まっていきました 。主にヨーロッパの室内履き向け素材として広く流通しているウール・フェルトと同様に足を過酷な状況から保護し、かつ自然や命を奪う事なく継続・共存が可能な素材です。針葉樹の豊かな北欧エリアでは木底の靴が生まれたように、物の誕生・歴史には必ずその土地の環境が起因しています。
The synthetic leather used for the uppers of PLAKTON shoes is made by VEILU, a Spanish company, and has passed the strict environmental protection regulations called “REACH” set by EU member states. Like the cork used for the soles, it represents PLAKTON’s corporate spirit of being conscious of coexistence with domestic industries and nature and making sustainable products. The genuine leather mainly used for the uppers is cowhide called VACHETTA, which is produced locally in Spain, and the leather is dyed by hand one pair at a time with the required amount of color when it is needed, without crust coloring. It takes time, but there is no waste. Cork has a history of being used in footwear since ancient times, but it spread to the common people from when it was used by aristocrats as indoor shoes to protect their feet from the stone floors indoors in the frigid cold of Europe. Like wool felt, which is widely distributed mainly as a material for indoor shoes in Europe, it is a material that protects the feet from harsh conditions and can be continued and coexisted without taking nature or life. Just as wooden-soled shoes were invented in the Nordic areas, which are rich in conifers, the birth and history of things are always influenced by the local environment.
MEMORY CUSHION
PLAKTONのインソール内に低反発のウレタンスポンジを使用して、今まで以上に柔らかい足当たりとなります。また、足型に合わせて変形し、体圧が分散され、エネルギーを吸収する事により、着地する際の足裏の衝撃が和らぎます。
The PLAKTON insole uses low-resilience urethane sponge, which makes it softer than ever before. It also conforms to the shape of your foot, disperses body pressure, and absorbs energy, cushioning the impact on the soles of your feet when you land.
